SOUTHFIELD, Mich - Supply Systems Technician and 1st Sgt. Daniel Fowler of the 645th U.S. Army Reserve Regional Support Group (RSG) was presented with the ESGR Patriot Award Jan. 2. Fowler was nominated by 1st Lt. TaNerykah Berry.

Berry stated, “I arrived at the 645th RSG in late January 2024. Mr. Daniel Fowler is the SSA at the unit and works day and night to ensure we don’t fail as a unit, team, or individual. He goes above and beyond to prioritize Soldiers as well as the mission. He has been in the RSG for his entire career; he has dedicated countless hours, even on weekends, completing emerging and short notice tasks that come down from our higher echelons, the 79th TSC (Theater Sustainment Command) and 103rd ESC (Expeditionary Sustainment Command). Mr. Fowler is assigned as the 1SG in the 645th HHC, but he does an outstanding job at separating the two duties. As 1SG Fowler, he has put together family days, led/mentored the NCOs in the unit, and maintained boundaries of SSA vs. 1SG duties so everyone in the unit has a clear-cut understanding of what to approach him with at what time. In the 10 months I’ve been at the RSG, Mr. Fowler has mentored me and helped me grow as a young lieutenant. I recognize just how hard he works on a daily basis. He is in numerous meetings every single day, serving as the COL’s representative, engaging in leadership talks, and answering RFIs. Not only does he do an excellent job of meeting benchmarks for our higher echelon, but he also continues to maintain good relationships with his employees and accommodates last minute emergencies with grace. Mr. Daniel Fowler is the best supervisor I have had, civilian and military. He is a hardworking and generous man that gets the job done.”

Thank you 1st Sgt. Fowler for your service and outstanding support. Presenting the award is ESGR Volunteer Fred Kaiser (left).
