Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) will be hosting over 30 trucking companies in the Pentagon for an ESGR Statement of Support signing on December 13.
Those trucking companies are given the honor of transporting the wreathes for the annual Wreaths Across America at Arlington National Ceremony December 14.
The Statement of Support is the cornerstone of ESGR’s effort to gain and maintain employer support for the Guard and Reserve. By signing a Statement of Support, these companies commit to employing and retaining employees who serve in the National Guard and Reserves and pledge to follow the letter and spirit of the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA).
Trucking companies began signing Statements of Support in conjunction with the Wreaths Across America in 2016. In recognition of the large workforce of reserve component members in the transportation industry, ESGR works with FASTPORT, a company that trains and recognizes transportation industry employers for hiring and retaining Veterans in their workforce, to coordinate the individual companies to sign the statements with ESGR during the ceremony.
ESGR’s new National Chair, John Sampa, and new Executive Director, Navy Capt. Darren Bess, will be in attendance.
