BAY CITY, Mich. - Earlier this week, two supervisors at HL Mechatronics in Bay City, MI were presented with the ESGR Patriot Award. These two outstanding supervisors were nominated by Army Specialist Jake Hosey, a firefighter serving with the Michigan Army National Guard.
Troy Strieter was nominated because of his support which allowed Hosey to complete 305 hours of professional military education courses in approximately one year. Hosey said he also provided flexibility in his start date during the initial hiring process since Hosey was completing training related to his military service.
Jeff Lauman was nominated due to his support in service members requirements, maintaining flexibility while transitioning to a supervisor role, and he encouraged Hosey to participate in while on duty.
Hosey stated, "Overall, the support of these two individuals has allowed a healthy balance between Guard and civilian life. Emphasis of support for service obligations has led to success throughout various courses, training exercises, and drills. In large part, the ability to focus on military tasks while away has resulted in notable accomplishments including: two Army Achievement Medals, Commandants list at BLC, a Certificate of Achievement at BLC, and successful completion of various PME courses. Troy and Jeff have consistently displayed an attitude of appreciation and support for the role the Michigan Army National Guard plays in national defense. This pillar of support is not required of an employer and is a direct example of the supervisors going above and beyond what is required of them."
During this presentation leaders from HL Mechatronics also signed the ESGR Statement of Support. To learn more about the SOS visit esgr.mil/mil.
