VANCOUVER, Wash. – Ryan Buss, compliance specialist supervisor of Bonneville Power Administration, was presented with a Patriot Award by Phil Sanders, state chair for the Washington Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve in recognition of extraordinary support of his employees serving in the Guard and Reserve.

“The Patriot Award was created by ESGR to publicly recognize individuals who provide outstanding patriotic support and cooperation to their employees who have answered their nation’s call to serve,” said Sanders. “Supportive supervisors are critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of the nation’s Guard and Reserve units.”

Buss was nominated by Navy Reserve Cmdr. Eric Seager, an IT specialist with the Bonneville Power Administration. “Ryan has and continues to be supportive of my military service, and recently went above and beyond by accommodating my recent deployment by managing the team to be effective without one of his three technical experts,” said Seager.

“National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills and capabilities to our workforce, and employer support for their military service is critical to maintaining the strength of our Guard and Reserve units,” said Sanders. “By valuing the military service of their Guard and Reserve employees, employers are directly supporting the readiness and retention of our All-Volunteer Force, and our national defense, as well as their success in the civilian workforce.”

“Upon my return he has been extremely flexible with my VA appointments and getting my legs under me as I am regained to reserves,” said Seager.  “He brings an uncommon care and understanding to the unique challenge that employing a Reservist entails.”

“I appreciate the service Eric provides our Country as a member of the Navy Reserve, and appreciate receiving this award,” said Buss after receiving the ESGR Patriot Award.
