ESGR in the News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Rebecca Habecker, of Baptist Medical Center, received the Department of Defense ESGR Patriot Award during the GuideWell and Florida Blue Military Appreciation Breakfast in Jacksonville recently.  Laurel Loustau, who is a Labor and Delivery Nurse at Baptist Medical Center and a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy Reserve, nominated Habecker for the recognition.

“I know it is not easy for employers to work around losing Navy Reserve and other military members for two weeks that can stretch into longer periods of time,” said Loustau. “I am lucky to have an employer like Rebecca Habecker, who proved to be such an understanding manager, and who supports the mission of the United States Navy and its personnel!”

Rob Lawrence, Florida ESGR volunteer and Military Outreach Director, facilitated the presentation. “National Guard and Reserve members bring tremendous skills, traits, character and capabilities to the workforce, and Rebecca’s support of their military service is greatly appreciated and is critical to maintaining the strength and readiness of our Nation's military,” he said.

ESGR is a Department of Defense program that develops and promotes supportive work environments for service members in the Reserve Components through outreach, recognition, and educational opportunities that increase awareness of applicable laws. ESGR also aids in resolving conflicts between Service members and their employers. For more information about ESGR outreach programs or volunteer opportunities, visit www.esgr.mil/FL.
