ARLINGTON, Va. – The Department of Defense (DoD) is pleased to announce it is accepting applications for the National Chair of the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR). The National Chair is appointed by the Secretary of Defense as an unpaid statutory volunteer.
Applications for this key volunteer position are due December 18, 2023 and will be vetted through a screening process prior to interviews to be scheduled for early January 2024. The final recommendation will go through the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Reserve Integration to the Secretary of Defense.
Candidates must be of respectable character, have a strong desire to serve, and have the time and energy to devote to this very demanding position. The National Chair position requires a significant time commitment and extensive travel (DoD funded) in support of ESGR activities to various locations within the United States and its territories. These activities include speaking engagements with State leaders, corporate executives, employers of Reserve Component Service members, and ESGR Volunteers to gain support for service in the Uniformed Services.
